		NEWS! Apprentice of the Year Esta-jane Mace was nominated by her employer, Jaguar Land Rover, as a potential candidate for the City of Coventry Freemen’s Guild Apprentice of the Year 2008. As a nominee she was invited to fill out a questionnaire with details of her academic history, her apprenticeship and the activities which she enjoys during her free time. These applications were then sent out for 6 applicants to be picked as finalists from nominated apprentices all across Coventry and the surrounding area. Esta-jane was then lucky enough to be nominated as one of those 6 finalists, and has been invited to interview on the 6th of January where the board will choose a winner, who will be awarded £1000 and the title Apprentice of the Year 2008, during a dinner and award ceremony at the end of January.
		Apologies for the websites…….. What you see is merely a sample of what is yet to come…….. I could have held back with this project pending the completion of the websites, however, I would then have had nothing to put onto them, so I decided to push on ahead and gain some publicity and interesting content ready for when they are up and running in a proper fashion In the meantime, please bear with me, as Xclusively Jaguar is progressing forward slowly but surely, and I will get there in the end. Things worth waiting for………and all that!
	W479 LDN Today (29/12/08) I came across my old X200 S-type in a car sales lot in Sidford, Devon. This S-type has been featured in several issues of the Jaguar Enthusiasts magazine, with more articles to follow. LDN still has the history file which I compiled for her and since leaving my ownership was purchased by a fellow Jaguar enthusiast. Full details can be found under “Jaguars for sale”. Finding LDN was a fitting end to the year!

	PC World – Yeovil, Somerset Just a brief note to say thankyou to Alan Brinck at the Yeovil branch of PC World, as promised, after he got my laptop “back on the road” on Christmas eve and saved me from a truly horrible Christmas! No charge was made for this service, and Alan’s only wish was that I spread the word and told everyone that they could expect similar exemplary service from PC World! Many thanks, Alan.

	Latest News from Knowles Wilkins Engineering KWE Super Coupe! We are currently building a very special XJC V12. The car is a 1977 Daimler and our customer has ordered us to fit a modern 6 litre XJS engine and 4 speed electronic automatic gearbox, along with late XJS suspension with outboard rear brakes, steering wheel, electronic systems and seats. The overall concept is to have very high tech systems controlling a powerful engine in the world's most beautiful saloon. We originally started with the 6 litre coil per plug engine from an X305 but the security systems were too costly to modify to suit the application, so we moved to the XJS as a donor car. We have installed the engine and electronics and expect to have it running in a week or so.

	Performance Motorcare Detailing Advice 1. Ditch the Sponge! If there is one piece of detailing advice I would have to give over and above anything else - it's Ditch That Sponge! Let me take a moment to explain why.... When I first got into detailing in a serious way, I would spend a whole weekend on a car (in between travelling up and down the country to car shows, I was buying and selling at the time). So late on Sunday afternoon I would stand back and admire the shine and my work, knowing I had probably just added at least £400 to the value of the car. Later in the week if the car hadn't sold I would give it a quick wash down with a good shampoo mix and a sponge. Even after practicing Safe Washing, with the two bucket method I soon started to notice fine swirls and scratches appearing. I couldn't understand it - I had been so careful and the car had hardly moved all week. It wasn't until a trip to The States and a chance conversation with a real hard core Harley enthusiast that the horrible truth emerged. It was the sponge. Without realising it I had been dragging any minute particles that were still left on the bodywork, across the newly polished paintwork, causing these fine swirls. Before leaving I took myself down to the nearest auto store and purchased the most expensive pure wool wash mitt I could find. I later learned that the most expensive is not necessarily the best. But I have never looked back. Why? The secret of the wash mitt over the sponge, especially the pure wool mitts, is their ability to pick up the particles of dust and dirt within their long fibres, drawing and keeping them away from the surface of your paintwork and preventing them from causing the swirls you see on so many other vehicles. Whilst there are other types of wash mitt on the market, my personal preference since those earlier days has always been pure wool. As well as keeping the particles away from your paintwork, they are also easy to rinse, to remove the particles trapped deep inside the soft fine fibres. Some of the latest microfibre wash mitts do have superior cleaning power, but again if choosing a microfibre mitt, choose one with a deep pile. Some of the cheaper mitts on the market have a very short pile and whilst they have great ability to pick up the particles, like a sponge they tend to remain too close to the surface to be safe. Even with continuous rinsing, the risk is too much for my liking. So if you have not already done so, I would seriously recommend ditching that sponge, and before you next wash, replacing it with a quality wash mitt. There are of course other products and tools in the detailing process, that play their part in preventing and removing swirls, to give your motor the shine you deserve and we will look more into some of these in the coming months.
