The stud pattern is known as the “PCD” – Pitch Circle Diameter The PCD for this era was 5 x 5 inch – that is, 5 studs in a 5 inch circle The studs were half inch UNF with RH threads. From the end of 1952 rim width increased to 5 and a half inches – initially identified by small indentations either side of the valve and then the characters “5 ½ K” stamped into the rim. Standard fitment tyres were 6 x 16 on both rim widths. Chrome dressed rims cannot be fitted to early wheels, as the slots are not big enough to permit the special clips to pass through.
